As mentioned in the previous blog, Lance recently visited County Donegal in Ireland while Mike was reporting from Bedfordshire, on the beauty of landscape and how it can inspire spiritual contemplation.
This area along with the coastline that forms the Wild Atlantic Way offers some of the most stunning countryside; from graceful loughs to windswept valleys dotted with innumerable abandoned farmhouses (and plentiful new-builds) and craggy-rocked beaches with stretches of the most beautiful golden sands. If there ever was a place to retreat from the madness of cities and the craziness of modern society, it is here.
Lance:
“When standing on the silent road that ran between the towering Blue Stack mountains and the shimmering Lough Eske below, I got a sense of the enormity of our world and how small we are as beings on it. These landscapes have been moving, shaping, changing for millennia, whereas our time here on this globe is but less than the blink of an eye. It is deeply humbling to be standing in this landscape, considering how ultimately insignificant we actually are but at the same time privileged to be part of such a dramatic natural stage. It strips that ego right out of you – and that is where spiritual contemplation can begin.”
