Experiencing Nature’s Sounds: Listening Horns Project

We don’t often get to see – or hear – artist Kathy Hinde’s sound art, unfortunately. However, we were able to visit the Forest of Imagination in Bath, a project set in the forestry area around Entry Hill, to see – and hear! – Kathy’s intallation ‘Listening Horns’. We were bowled over by the idea of having these rusty, almost fungi-like structures protruding up from the undergrowth, bringing the sound of an underground river, which does exist, to the surface. The sounds of the river were quite extraordinary, and you had the notion that they are secret, being magically brought to you through the horns. All as you walk through an exquisitely dappled wooded path.

If you want to visit and see this and other installations, and a number of scheduled events, these are on at Entry Hill, Bath from 13-21 June 2026. For further details, visit forestofimagination.org.
