As Mike stated in the previous post, there is a benefit of the lockdown enforced on us since the outbreak of Covid-19; that being an opportunity to focus more closely on creative projects, external commitments having been stripped away.
Lance, during a phone discussion with Mike on a Sunday morning, was noticing the terracotta pots and cracked brickwork that inhabited the small garden at his lodgings; taking in the rich colour and textures, and the way the bricks had weathered over the years, the atmosphere gradually breaking apart their firm surfaces. The opportunity was not to be missed – given the quality of the late morning light and the clarity of the air – and as soon as the phone was put down, the DSLR was picked up.
Using a Canon 55 – 200mm lens, Lance was able to capture a number of moments in the garden, focussing particularly on the terracotta and brickwork, the warmth of their colours, the play of light on the rough and broken textures. Earthwaves at work, inherent in the creation and destruction of these man-made elements.
A benefit of isolation was turned into a moment of creativity. We at Earthwaves would urge everyone to find the creativity within to express and stimulate during these difficult times.
