Painter and artist Dr Alison Goodyear‘s Paint Park in the Project Room at MK Gallery just couldn’t be missed. An immersive installation, and an artist friend whose work adorns a few of Mike’s walls. Ali’s work is abstract and very colourful, and has for some time had a process taking form and colour from the impressions of her paint palette, so something immersive was too close to our hearts to miss.
Well we enjoyed dark rooms, topsy and turvy virtual paint realities and had fun with the Tilt Brush station. Inspiration to continue to push our own work digitally and to have both virtual and physical realities in one exhibition or installation. Although Mike came out wanting to dance and paint in the Tilt Brush virtual reality, we are not sure it is necessarily quite the right software for us yet. The health and safety meant audience and participants were seated. Mike liked the idea of people moving around in virtual reality and finding in the real world of touch some of his ceramics that would have a relationship to the virtual one hence exploring personal illusory reality and the real world. We decided sound might best be in the space itself rather than headphones.
Ali’s work remains breathtaking in its intuitive and skilled colour pieces and we look forward to more.
